Gastronomic activities, tasting sessions, delicious workshops, exhibitions about the history of food and culinary heritage… still want more? Then we’ve got good news: Brussels is the place to be if you love to treat yourself to a bit of gourmet culture! With the long-awaited, opening of the Food court of the Gare Maritime at Tour & Taxis (it will be one of the biggest in Europe!) coming up, we’ve put together a selection of unique outings to tantalise your senses!

EXHIBITIONS: art, food and culture

Lovers of allthings beautiful and delicious, this selection is for you! At the end of September, Art & Food @ The Bascule offers food-filled encounters that combine art and gastronomy, showcase the talent of local chefs and offer tastings. Those who consider food to be an important part of culture can visit the new historical exhibition at the Brussels Museum of the Mill and Food in Evere, while the more adventurous among you can test yourselves at the Erasmushogeschool's Foodlab.

FESTIVALS: exploring flavour

Savouring our food is great, but thinking about our food, how we get it and where it comes from is even better. With a very well put together programme, Festival Alimenterre questions our ways of cultivating food and inhabiting the earth. It's the perfect opportunity to ask the right questions in a cool and passionate atmosphere. A committed festival, Nourrir Bruxelles addresses our need for a new way of thinking about food. This fantastic first edition will help visitors become familiar with agroecological and solidarity-based food systems as well as sustainable urban agriculture.

GOURMET GET-TOGETHERS: conferences and big-screen delights

When sitting around a table, sharing is as important as the journey. Whether it's a food conference on the cross-cultural history of the burger, convivial meetings over a latte or film screenings to transport your eyes and taste buds: here are a few suggestions for meeting up and treating yourself!

GUIDED TOURS & DELICIOUS WORKSHOPS

The heritage of a city is also reflected in its food and Brussels is no different, offering a whole range of gourmet tours, each more appetising than the last. Local flavours are honoured in typically distinctive fashion: a beer-tasting scavenger hunt, chocolate workshops, delicious waffles, speciality cafes and even a beer spa, the offer is as original as it is varied!
