Dear Comrades

Description

Special Jury Prize in Venic. Andrei Konchalovsky (co-writer of Andrei Tarkovsky's Rublev and Yvan's Child) tells the story of a violent political disillusionment in a provincial town in the south of the USSR in 1962 in sublime black and white.

When the communist government raises food prices in 1962, the rebellious workers from the small industrial town of Novocherkassk go on strike. The massacre which then ensues is seen through the eyes of a devout party activist.
